Storm Season 2011 The season started off with an ice storm on February 4th. Schools across the area were released from school early and school cancelled the next day.
The following months Houston, and most of Texas, endured a drought with less than an inch per month. Finally, on May 12th we had a little drizzle in Southwest Houston. It brought some great sunset shots.
May 13th Houston received some rain, not a lot, but any rain was good at this point. It brought some nice dark clouds, but nothing photographable. June 6th Houston finally received some much needed rain from a low pressure system travelling along the coast. Some areas in Houston received pea sized to marble sized hail and wind. The storms had some awesome lightning during the afternoon hours. These were taken off video.
July 3rd The Houston area is not letting the public buy fireworks due to the extreme drought. Many regular fireworks shows have been cancelled. Three hundred thirty-six counties in Texas out of three hundred fifty-four have burn bans. We need relief badly! |
